A new guideline published by the National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) and the National Collaborating Centre for Primary Care (NCCPC) sets out how health professionals should identify and care for women who are at risk of developing breast cancer because of a history of the condition in their family (familial breast cancer).
For more information on the guidance and its key recommendations please contact the NICE press office on 0207 067 5900.
Provision of the services outlined in this guidance will be funded and organised separately from the NHS Breast Screening Programme.
Women who are concerned about their risk should contact their GP or ring NHS Direct on 0845 4647.
